Duration: 3 April 2017 – 3 June 2017

Duties: assist in lower track Spanish 3 and 4 classes as well as be available for certain periods during the school day for tutoring for all levels of Spanish students

Schedule: Monday through Friday,  7:20am-3:15pm

Compensation: $18.90/hour

Qualifications: K-12 license preferred, but substitute license acceptable; fluency in Spanish required; knowledge of Google apps preferred, but basic computer skills and willingness to learn on the job acceptable

English and ESL Teacher Needed at Chicago Futabakai Japanese School

Chicago Futabakai Japanese School in Arlington Heights is looking for an English and ESL Teacher who can immediately fill the opening position. The contract will be (tentatively) 11/7/2016- mid March, with possible re-contracting for the next school year.


  • Current PEL (Professional Educator’s License), TBE- Japanese (Transitional Bilingual Educator’s License – Japanese), or 3-5 years of experience teaching English to Japanese children in a school setting.
  • Ability to plan and deliver classes to multi-age groups (1/2 multi-age, 3/4 multi-age, 5/6 multi-age) and junior high classes.  All classes are taught in English and follow either an ESL or English Language Arts curriculum.  Materials vary per grade and English level.  16-20 hours of teaching a week.  Some pre-K or kindergarten classes may be included.
  • Some Japanese language skills are a plus.
  • Must be a team player who can work in a highly collaborative environment.
  • Ability to follow Japanese Ministry of Education mandates including:

-Schedule (School year is April through March.  First term is early/mid-April             through mid July, second term is late august through mid-December), and third term is early January through mid-March)

-Major school events (3-4 Sundays a year)

The New York City Museum School is a unique small school in District 2 in Manhattan that has established strong partnerships with various museums and cultural institutions across the city.
