Chicago Futabakai Japanese School in Arlington Heights is looking for an English and ESL Teacher who can immediately fill the opening position. The contract will be (tentatively) 11/7/2016- mid March, with possible re-contracting for the next school year.
- Current PEL (Professional Educator’s License), TBE- Japanese (Transitional Bilingual Educator’s License – Japanese), or 3-5 years of experience teaching English to Japanese children in a school setting.
- Ability to plan and deliver classes to multi-age groups (1/2 multi-age, 3/4 multi-age, 5/6 multi-age) and junior high classes. All classes are taught in English and follow either an ESL or English Language Arts curriculum. Materials vary per grade and English level. 16-20 hours of teaching a week. Some pre-K or kindergarten classes may be included.
- Some Japanese language skills are a plus.
- Must be a team player who can work in a highly collaborative environment.
- Ability to follow Japanese Ministry of Education mandates including:
-Schedule (School year is April through March. First term is early/mid-April through mid July, second term is late august through mid-December), and third term is early January through mid-March)
